how to achieve success?

Set realistic goals. If you are not satisfied with where you are, do not run off in just any direction hoping things will work out for you. Decide what you want. Be specific and write down what you want. It is easier to get anywhere when you have a map.
Who you see is who you will be because life is what you make it. You are what you think you are. Everything ever achieved was first seen in someone's mind. Get a clear vision of what you will be like when you have achieved your goal. See the colors and the surroundings in your mind's eye. It has to become vivid on the inside of you before it becomes reality.
An old adage says, "play the part and you shall become." Once you see yourself as having already achieved what you want, it should be easy to act as though you already have it. In order to succeed, you must first believe that you can. Now it is time to perform at maximum levels. Be what you can be, and you will be.
Watch out for your inner voice. The minute you start talking about what you are going to do if you lose, you have lost. Something in all of us wants to do what's convenient rather than what's necessary, to be negative rather than positive. The voice inside you will tell you why you can not achieve your goal and why you do not deserve it. But, you must believe in what you really want and you must have the desire to embrace the greatness for which you were born.
Do not bother arguing or trying to defend yourself when things do not go right. Look for the silver lining in every cloud. Turn every adversity into challenge. This can be tough to remember in the middle of a storm. But if you waste energy trying to stop the rain, you will completely miss the rainbow, and maybe not even be around to enjoy the flowers.
If you fall down, then cut your losses and move on. Successful people do not talk about failure. They, instead, talk about resilience, perseverance, and challenge. If you want a place in the sun, you have got to put up with a few blisters. Former President Theodore Roosevelt used to say: "the only man who never makes a mistake is the man who never does anything."
Think about the future, but live the present. You are working toward your future, but true success is the progressive realization of a worthwhile goal or dream. The most effective way to ensure the value of the future is to confront the present courageously and constructively. Never allow your present to become a prisoner of the past.
Be sure you are moving toward something you really want, love and can be excited about. Whatever you do, do it with all your might. Remember that ability is what you are capable of doing. Motivation determines what you do. Attitude determines how well you do it.
A crisis is a situation which can either make you or break you. If you react properly to it, it can give you strength, power and wisdom. But, if you react improperly, it can rob you of the skill, control, and ability. It takes as much courage to have tried and failed as it does to have tried and succeeded. General George Patton used to say: "success is how high you bounce when you hit bottom."
